To reach a level of Intermediate Spanish i have tried many methods over the past 10 years from formal lessons, 121 lessons, DuoLingo, to face to face meetup groups, all of which have been valuable. Everyone however has a different style of learning and the thought of learning grammar in a classroom setting or walking into a pub for a meetup group on your own to speak to strangers in Spanish may give you equal amounts of fear!
To improve your conversational skills there’s no way around it, you need to get the practice in. But for most people, like me, you are time poor and may not always be able to commit to weekly classes or regular meetups. Confidence may also play a factor in improving your speaking skills. All of the above applies to me. However much my speaking improved, it still gave me the fear to practice speaking Spanish. So to improve my confidence i formulated the Travel in Two method that suits all types of learners (visual, auditory or kineasthetic) which i use successfully today to translate my blog posts into Spanish myself.
